Tools for encoding to Windows Media Video

* Platform: PC running Windows 2000 or XP, with Microsoft .NET 1.1 (you can add this software component to a Windows OS). Encoding on Mac OS X is not recommended.
* Encoding application: Use the Windows Media Encoder (available from Microsoft) or as part of Sorenson Squeeze, Anystream, Cleaner or another popular encoding solution.

Encoding Setting Guidelines

The following are suggestions for encoding your source video to WMV 9 for use in a Brightcove Player .
Total data rate: 1.4 Mbps
Video Bit Rate: 1300 kbps
For music video content: Decreasing the video data rate and increasing the suggested audio data rate may be preferable.
Audio Bit Rate: 96 kbps
For music video content: Increasing the audio data rate and decreasing the suggested video data rate may be preferable.
Total Bit Rate: 1400 kbps
Encoding: Video: WM9 codec
Audio: WMA Stereo 44.1 - 48kHz
2-Pass VBR
Supported Resolutions: 640x480 (4:3)
640x360 (cropped to 16:9)
720x480 (anamorphic 16:9)
Filters:

(A deinterlacing filter attempts to reduce or eliminate interlacing artifacts.) Video that is not shot and edited progressively (24p, 30p, or film with telecine removed) should be deinterlaced during the encoding process.
